Maria Tripon


The messenger of Oaș folklore.

She was born, grew up and gave birth to a family in Negreşti-Oaş. She arrived into this world on the 4th of July 1962, in the home of Bandre Ioan and Maria, being the first of the seven children (three girls and four boys), her grandparents and great-grandparents were also born in Negreşti-Oaş.

She attended her primary school and high school in her native town, Negreşti-Oaş, graduating in 1980. During 1978-1981 she attended the classes of the Popular School of Arts, from Satu Mare, popular singing section, being guided by her ardent desire to become a vocal interpreter of the Romanian folklore. There followed a period of time in which her personal life was crowned by a lot of satisfactions, she got the name of Tripon after marrying Aurel, just as it happens to every person from Oaș, she built a house, she gave birth at her turn,  to three boys (1984-Cristian, 1988-Ionut, 1989-Eugen)

She resumed her artistic career in 1990, by participating at various folklore contests and festivals from the country, representing the Oaș folkloric area, wanting to make this beautiful area more and more acquainted from the point of view of the song, the costume, the language and the authentic dancing

  • 1990 –The international festival-contest of folklore which took place in Greoni, Caraş-Severin district
  • 1991 – International Festival „Maria Tanase” from Craiova, Dolj district
  • 1991 – National festival-contest „Pe deal la Teleormănel” from Alexandria, Teleorman district.
  • 1991 – Festival-contest „Floare de Stâncă” from Rucăr, Argeş district.
  • 1991 – The International festival-contest „Maria Lătăreţu” from Târgu Jiu, Gorj district.
  • 1992 – She did her first recording at the Romanian Radiobroadcast of Bucharest, with the instrumentalists Vasile Solomon from Bixad, at violin and her brother Dorin Bandre from Negrești at the traditional guitar.
  • 1992 – She participates at the concert of Christmas carol from the Radio room broadcasted by TVR 1, where she presents Christmas carol singers with a group in which zoung people from Negreşti-Oaş joined her.

  • 1993 – She participates at the contest „Topul tinerilor interpreţi”, organized by the Romanian Radio Broadcast.

  • 1998 – New recordings at the Radio, with instrumentalists as Grigore Tat, from Bixad and Ioan Frăţilă from Boinesti at traditional guitar respectively, and also a part of the children of the new set up ensemble „Sânzienele”. With this occasion she takes part at the „Studioul de folclor” show realized by the editor Stoia Gruia, with the painter Vasile Pop-Negreşteanu, show that is broadcasted live by Radio Bucharest
  • From with 1998, there start to appear the invitations and the participations at a great number of concerts organized by the Radio and the Romanian Television, and also participations at numerous radio-TV shows from Bucharest and allover the country.
  • 1999 and 2000 – Christmas carol singers concert, TVR1, „Tezaur folcloric” show, made by Mărioara Murărescu, with the ensemble „Sânzienele”.
  • 2001 – TVR shootings, special Easter show for Tezaur Folcloric, directed by Mărioara Murărescu.
  • 2001  - Concert dedicated to the national day of the 1st of December, TVR 1, by Elise Stan
  • 2002 – Christmas carol singers concert organized at the Radio Room by Radio Bucharest .

In 1998, she establishes the folklore ensemble„Sânzienele” which activates at the Club of Children from Negreşti-Oaş, she leaves the competition activity, further preparing the children from this ensemble for the folklore contests of the years that followed.

From the contests she participated at, she came back with or without prizes, but with the satisfaction of having managed to bring back again to the attention of professionals and to the audience the Oas folklore, the biggest award being the applauses and the congratulations received on their behalf.

  • 2002 – Christmas Carols Concert and folklore concert organized by TVR1, at the National Theatre of Bucharest with the prizes „Gala Folclorului Românesc” by Elize Stan.
  • 2003 – Participates at the live show „O vedetă populară realizată” by Elize Stan, transmitted from Făget, Timiş, at the anniversary of the age of 85 of Prof. Dr. Conf. Emilia Comişel, followed by an anniversary concert   also broadcasted by TV Timişoara.
  • 2004 – Shows at Etno TV Bucuresti, such as “Mornings with songs”, “ A song, a singer”, “The right to singing”. Other folklore shows at radio and TV in Caransebes, Caras Severin, shows made and filming at TVR2 Cluj, she participates at the show “The Cluj is visiting us”, by Sergiu Vaida Vitalian.
  • During the period; 1998-2007 she made radio shows at local channels in Cluj, Craiova, Bistriţa, Baia-Mare, Satu-Mare, Caransebeş,Timişoara, Tg. Mureş, Alba-Iulia, Iaşi, but also to Radio Bucharest, Antena Satelor, Radio Romania International.
    He also made many shows and tv broadcastings with local televisions from Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Cluj, Drobeta Turnu-Severin, Oradea, Arad, Timişoara, Caransebeş, Craiova, Vâlcea, Constanţa, Alba-Iulia, Bistriţa, Piteşti, Braşov as well as other national televisions TVR1, TVR2, TVR Cultural, Antena 1, Prima TV, Etno TV, Favorit TV, Naţional TV, DDTV, OTV, TVR M, ProTV, ProTV International
  • In 2007 she was invited by TVR1 for the shows: ”A popular star”- special Easter show made by Elize Stan and “Early in the evening” also at TVR1.

She also participated at the making of two documentaries on TVR Cultural and on TVR2, the two documentaries are: “Oas between tradition and modernism”, and “Romanian heritage” along with the band “Sânzienele” and the newly created band Oaşul, that function at the House of Culture from Negresti-Oas, coordinated by the same Maria Tripon, with the purpose of expansion of the artistic activities from Negresti Oas, as well as taking young people from high schools or even students who became too old to be in the children’s band Sânzienele.

Along with her radio recordings, she managed to create two personal audio albums (at Studio Standus, Satu-Mare)
Her first album from 1998, an audio tape, named “Who shall listen to my voice”, having as violin player Grigore Tat from Bixad, and at guitar Ioan Fratila from Boinesti. The album consists of 16 dances from Oas, 14 vocal and 2 instrumental, with different thematic.

In the second album from the tape and CD named “I love to have fun” pun on market in 2003 , is accompanied at the violin by Petre Dragan from Racsa and at the guitar by Nicolae Oniga from Racsa.

and two albums together with the band Sânzienele .

Even from the founding of the band “Sanzienele”, Maria Tripon, involved her three boys in the artistic activity, being center members of the band. In the present days, along with other young people from Negresti Oas, and from the surroundings (Bixad, Târşolţ, Aliceni, Racşa, Huta Cereteze) they are part of the „Oaşul” band.

Even if she started her professional activity as accountant , maria Tripon, reached her goal to become teacher and instructor of folklore, after the graduation of the Academy of music. – Gheorghe Dima from Cluj Napoca, in the year 2007.

She is a catalyst of the music and the folklore from Oas, transmitting from her enthusiasm, to her family , to the other children whom she is teaching, as well as to the band players from the area. What started as a passion, changed itself through dedication, into work, into craft, Maria Tripon strongly states that the folklore is and will remain to be her entire life.
